Upgrade VQM to Mac OS-X:
This page is for you only if you plan to use Visual Quantum Mechanics on a Macintosh equipped with OS-X 10.2.
The CD-ROM for "Visual Quantum Mechanics" contains the application "Visual Quantum Mechanics" which runs in the classic environment of the Macintosh operating system. You can upgrade to an OS-X-native version by following the steps below.
- Make sure you're running OS-X 10.2 or newer and have more than 600 megabytes available on your hard disk.
- Copy the content of the CD-ROM to a folder on you hard disk (do not miss invisible files on the CD-ROM).
- Download the application "VQM-1 X" (a StuffIt-archive) by clicking the link below (2.3 mB).
- Copy this application into the folder containing the files from the CD-ROM. Then your're ready to go.
The upgrade only replaces the player application. This application assumes that all files are in the same relative position as on the CD-ROM. Therefore it is best to copy the entire content of the CD-ROM to your hard disk. The OS-X version is identical to the version for MacOS-9 on the CD-ROM.
