Rectangular potential well - dependence on the radius of the well

This interactive image combines a plot of the plane-wave solution of the stationary Schrödinger equation at energy E = 8 with a plot of the reflection coefficient. Using the slider you can adjust the radius R of the potential well. The depth of the potential well has the constant value V = -16.

The reflected part of the solution vanishes whenever the reflection coefficient is zero at the given energy (indicated by the black vertical line). In this case the transmitted part is maximal: the amplitude of the transmitted wave equals the amplitude of the incoming wave.
